LOVE YOUR HOME PRE-EVENT PREVIEW IN MELBOURNE BROADSHEET

Last Friday, the day before our first Melbourne secret supper 'LOVE YOUR HOME',lifestyle and culture magazine BROADSHEET featured a fabulous pre-event article on ONCE UPON A TABLE. Thanks for the article Annie Reid

Wow!we were overwhelmed with the response! So great to have such enthusiastic support in a fairly new city to 'supper clubs' and my hometown, Melbourne。

Our email inbox was flooded with requests to get a spot on our table.

We only wish we could have everyone but alas our secret home venues are intimate and can only fit 24 people in total ...3 lucky Broadsheet member were contacted last minute, boy were they excited! One reader event cancelled his Saturday night date to take the lucky last spot.

Shhhh we featured in "The Rise of Secret Tourism' in CNN Travel

Excerpt from 'The Rise of Secret Tourism' CNN travel

In Hong Kong, underground supperclub Once Upon a Table holds monthly dinners and sells out its 15 or so places in less than a minute. Co-founder Argha Sen is a chef by night and marketer by day, but he says regular rules go out the window when you throw a secret venue into the mix.
“In marketing, the customer has to be given the right information, so he has control. We market Once Upon a Table by not giving them any control -- and seats at our table go in seconds.”
Sen describes his guests as adventurous, open-minded foodies after an experience as much as the food itself.
“The guests are all food lovers from different backgrounds that you wouldn’t be able to meet otherwise,” says Once Upon a Table regular Karen Leung.
“And the food is amazing -- dishes are influenced by different cuisines and methods because the chefs all have full time non-cooking jobs.”

LOVE YOUR HOME - MELBOURNE POP-UP SECRET SUPPER EVENT 23 FEB

You are invited to ‘Love Your Home’ a secret supper club event in Melbourne brought to you by
Once Upon A Table Hong Kong and local friends
We are a group of friends and amateur cooks who love to cook and hold intimate, themed dinners in secret home locations for food lovers. Our aim is to put home cooking back on the menu and to tell a unique story through the menu and evening.

For our Melbourne pop-up event the theme will be ‘Love Your Home’, showcasing homegrown produce from ordinary Melbournian backyards (from our own, parents, grannies, friends and neighbors’ gardens), Melbourne CBD produce, quality Victorian produce and wine … and of course homemade dishes made from scratch like cheese and breads etc.

We are putting together a sumptuous feast of 10 courses and 4 paired glasses of wine for 20 lucky guests. The menu will be kept a secret and revealed on the day. The secret home location (no more than 8km from CBD) will be revealed the day before the event.

Here’s a sneak peak…
...Victorian sparkling wine tasting with Champagne Dame (www.thechampagnedame.com), Wood fired oven thin crust pizza with grannie’s backyard herb, BBQ Yabbies with garlicky garden herb pesto, Potted Tempura Zucchini flowers stuffed with homemade ricotta, drizzled with CBD rooftop honey and toasted spices, 3 hr slow roasted lamb shoulder encrusted with Australian bush pepper herbs and wine pairing by a professional sommelier. Hungry yet?

Our special guest will be the founder of Melbourne ‘Rooftop Honey’ who will talk a little about their passion and importance of getting bees back into the cities for a more sustainable future. Any profits will be donated to Rooftop Honey’s free Adopt a Bee program that re-homes rescued bees.

Bookings open Monday 11 February, 10am by email to onceuponatable@gmail.com
Please include LOVE YOUR HOME MELBOURNE in the title and provide name, email, phone and no. of guests (max 2 per booking).
